Chase Sapphire Reserve® for Business
Chase
Welcome Offer
Our take
A premium business travel card for companies with enough travel volume and eligible operating spend to support a high annual fee. Credits and airport benefits may be valuable, but they should reduce expenses already present in the business—not create new vendors, subscriptions, or trips. Personal and business use should remain clearly separated for accounting and tax records.
Best for
- ✓ Businesses with frequent travel
- ✓ Companies able to use major credits through existing expenses
- ✓ Owners invested in transferable Chase rewards
Not ideal for
- — Low-travel or early-stage businesses
- — Owners wanting a simple cash-back card
- — Companies relying on the welcome offer to offset the fee
Conservative break-even test
Use prior-year business records to value travel credits, lounge use, protections, and incremental rewards. Discount restrictive portal or vendor credits, subtract the full fee, and exclude the welcome offer from the ongoing case.
First year vs. ongoing year worksheet
For year two, remove the one-time welcome offer entirely. To recover a $795 fee from rewards alone, this card must produce that much more value than your best no-fee alternative. At a 1% incremental return, that would require about $79,500 in eligible annual spend before counting credits you would genuinely buy anyway.
