OpenCard editorial analysis

Our take

A useful no-fee Membership Rewards card for small businesses that want transferable points on routine purchases. The elevated base earning is most valuable within its annual spending limit; above that level, the opportunity cost may rise. It is a strong foundation card, not a premium travel-benefits product.

Best for

  • Small businesses building Membership Rewards
  • Owners with moderate uncategorized spend
  • Businesses wanting to preserve Amex points without an annual fee

Not ideal for

  • Companies far above the enhanced earning cap
  • Cash-back-only owners
  • Businesses needing lounge access or extensive travel protections

Conservative break-even test

Compare point value with the cash earned by a no-fee business card, using a conservative redemption rate. Calculate spending above the enhanced-rate cap separately instead of applying the headline rate to the full year.

For year two, remove the one-time welcome offer entirely. To recover a $0 fee from rewards alone, this card must produce that much more value than your best no-fee alternative. At a 1% incremental return, that would require about $0 in eligible annual spend before counting credits you would genuinely buy anyway.
